This post will cover how you can remove Windows 10 built-in Apps in Intune without a PowerShell script.
Why would we want to remove the application? For example, in a corporate environment, you may not want your end-users to have an Xbox application showing in their start menu.
Let’s get started.
Get the app to be able to remove it.
To be able to remove the application we will need to get the application from the Microsoft Business Store.
Go to Microsoft Business Store
Search the store for the application you wish to remove.
In this example, I will use Xbox Game Bar.
Select it from the search results.
Get the app.
Now it is time to get/buy the app. (Built-in apps are free)
Click “Get the app”
Product & services
Now you have the app available in your Products & services under the section Apps & Software.
You do not have to do anything more here unless you want to control the specific app, assigning it to specific users, or change the settings for the Private store availability. For the built-in apps, I have it set to No one.
Sync your newly bought apps to Intune.
To make sure you have your newly free/bought apps available in Intune you can go to the Tenant administration – Microsoft Store for Business and click Sync. This will make sure the applications show up in Intune so you can configure them.
Now let’s remove the Xbox game bar application from our users/devices.
Click on Apps – Windows.
You should now be able to find the Xbox Game Bar (Online) in the apps list.
Setting the Assignments on the app to Uninstall.
Now let’s go ahead and uninstall the application from our users/devices.
Click Properties under Manage.
Click Edit next to Assignments.
Now simply select devices or users and set them to Uninstall.
If you want this to be uninstalled during an Autopilot OOBE then select devices.
Repeat the step for each built-in application you want to remove.
